I Can Do ALL Things Through Him

Spirit of Fear

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind” 2 Timothy 1:7

I have never been of the creative sort. I have a huge imagination…BUT…bringing those thoughts to fruition have never been a forte of mine. Is it because I can’t do it? Is it because I don’t have the talent required to carry out those thoughts and ideas? Is it because I thought others would find my thoughts and ideas not up to standard with their thoughts or plans? Yes, Yes and Yes….or so I’ve been told. Who would tell me these things? Why would they tell me these things? Two questions with two very straight to the heart of the matter answers. Satan and to instill a spirit of fear into the Child of God.

It has been a dream, passion, an idea (call it what you want) of mine to create this sort of devotional/blog. I’ve heard Him speak. When He does, it can be such an experience, sometimes an AHA! moment, that you just want to share it. You want to show others what He has shown you. But ahhh…There’s the catch. The little voice of the devil himself trying to speak fear into your heart and persuade you to keep such experiences to yourself. Convincing you that you couldn’t have possibly heard God speak. I mean come on. You’re just some girl from a small town with nothing special to contribute to the world. Why would God speak to you? And if He did, you certainly couldn’t have interpreted Him right. You’re no scholar of the bible. Right? Right!

NOPE! Wrong! Jesus died on that cross so that we could have this access to the Father! So that the most devout pastor could hear Him speak to his heart as well as a small town girl who fails Him on a daily basis.

So back to my original thought….FEAR. It can stop us from doing the most incredible things. It can stop us from sharing the incredible messages from Him. So I have determined in my heart to not let fear keep me from doing what He has called me to do. God gives us these talents to use and to share so that we can bring others to Him. So that we can increase the family of God.

Matthew 25:15 “And to one he gave five talents, to another two and to another one, to each according to his own ability; and immediately he went on a journey.” This was the key verse in the sermon that had me thinking again of this ability I had yet to use. Throughout the week following this, God spoke in other ways to me as well. My personal studies the very next morning led me to Hebrews 6:7-8 “For the earth which drinks in the rain that often comes upon it, and bears herbs useful for those by whom it is cultivated, receives blessings from God; but if it bears thorns and briers, it is rejected and near to being cursed, whose end is to be burned“. Well then….I realized that not using the ability and talents God has given us will cause us to loose them. I never want to stand before Him and have Him disappointed that He trusted me with these talents and I didn’t use them at all. John 5:30 states “I do not seek My own will but the will of the Father who sent me”. These words were spoken by Jesus. So even God’s only son came to do His Father’s will and not His own.

I’m so glad you took a moment to read what God has laid on my heart. I haven’t a plan yet as to the length or frequency of my posts. Except to let God lead and speak.
