It’s Christmas time. There’s a special feeling in the air. People tend to love a little more….well…. unless you’re at Walmart. 😁😁
Point is, there is a difference in the hearts of most people. That’s kind of nice, isn’t it?
Sure. But what about the rest of the year??
It seems that January 1 comes around and people forget that others exist. They forget the charity and the love they had for others when it was “the season of giving”. They did their part, now on with their “normal lives”.
But the bible tells us this SHOULD BE our “normal lives”.
Ephesians 4:1 says “I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called.”
Now, I know what you’re thinking. “How is a Christmas message coming out of Ephesians???”
Well…let me tell you!
Some people look at this verse and think of calling as your gift. Such as called to preach, sing, teach or write a blog. But I believe Paul is talking about the calling of God’s children to Him. God has called us as His sons and daughters. As such, we should walk worthy of that calling.
If you read the next few verses in that passage, Paul tells us that we should be humble, gentle, show love, keep unity and peace. (v.2-3) He tells us that we are ONE body with ONE Lord and ONE spirit. (v.4-6)
(Now, he doesn’t tell us, “Hey, this in how you should act December 1 to December 26, after that you’re good!”.)

So, if this is true, then the “Spirit of Christmas” should be shown ALL year. Not just a few days out of the year. We should ALWAYS walk worthy of the calling with which we were called.
We should ALWAYS exhibit those characteristics that Paul tells us about.
So, when the tree is down and the last of the lights unplugged, when the children are back in school and the last of the decorations put away, let’s not resume our “normal lives”. Let’s continue to show the charity, love, gentleness and kindness all year that we did for a few short weeks.
Let’s continue to walk worthy of our calling. ❤️
