Cats, by nature, are one of the most suspicious animals I know. They are constantly on the prowl, looking for something to attack or thinking something is going to attack them.
My cat, for instance, thinks my pants’ leg is the enemy. She must attack at once!
But my cat also trusts me. Did she always? No.
Over time, as I fed her, petted her and took care of her, she has learn to trust me. She climbs in my lap like a baby now, letting me cradle her and rub her belly until she is sleeping so hard she snores!
Now that is trust!
Proverbs 3:5 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not into your own understanding.”
We are kind of like my cat. At first, we are suspicious. We aren’t sure if God will take care of us. But as time goes on, and we see God take care of the needs we have, we begin to trust that He will continue to supply those needs.
Not just materialistically, but in all aspects of our lives.
The more we trust in Him on a daily basis, the more our trust and faith in Him grows. Just like with my kitty cat. She has learn to trust that every morning, when I come outside, she is going to be fed. She immediately jumps up on the table where her bowl is and waits. (Definitely not patiently!)
We are the same. Each morning, I get up and read God’s word. I trust and know that I am going to be fed by Him.
So spend time with God. Let Him feed you, comfort you and learn to trust in Him more and more.
Until next time…
