On the way to work yesterday, the fog was so thick that I couldn’t see in front of me. As I came up on the split in the highway in which I had to turn to head to work, I could not see the lanes in front of me. If I had not known that the ramp to merge onto was there, I would not have known what to do or which way to go.
But because I had passed this way so many time, and because I knew this place so well, I had no trouble moving forward.
The same thing happened to my husband’s mother. The fog was so thick on the lake where they live, that she could not see the other side. She knew what lied over there, she just couldn’t see it.
Life is like this sometimes…
We struggle through the fog of a decision. We struggle through a fog of loss. We feel a little scared, well to be honest, sometimes A-LOT scared. We’re unsure of what lies ahead. We’re not sure if we will get through it to the other side.
But just like on the highway that I know so well, I have a God that I know so well! I may not can see the way, but I know it’s there. I know because I know the God that makes the way.
Just like the city across the lake, although hidden by the fog, we know it’s there. We know because we have seen it in the clear moments.
My friend, God is just like that. Sometimes, we can’t see Him through the fog of our struggles, of our losses, of our griefs and our hurts. But we KNOW He is there, because we have seen Him in the clear moments.
So keep trusting. So KNOW that you KNOW that He is there, even in the times we can’t seem to see Him. Eventually, the fog clears, the sun comes out and we can see clearly again.
Sometimes it clears quickly, sometimes it’s mid morning before it clears. BUT it WILL clear, and the SON will shine through.
Until next time…
*In Memory of a Dear Friend’s Mother..Please keep them in your prayers as they say “not goodbye, but see you on the other side” today.*
