They say patience is a virtue.
Unfortunately, in that area, I am NOT that virtuous!! 🤷♀️
In a day and age when everything can be done on demand, it’s hard to grasp the idea of waiting.
When the doctor finds something wrong and we have to WAIT on the test results. When we go for that interview for the job we really need and WAIT for the phone call. When we are on our knees crying out to God for our children and we WAIT for Him to move.
So what do we do in the waiting??
Do we bite our nails and wonder if the results say we’re going to die tomorrow? Do we lie on the couch, staring at the wall, waiting for a phone call that might not come? Do we lose faith because God hasn’t answered that prayer in the timely manner we think He should?
No, my friends, we do not! We take action!
Acts 1:4 “And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father.”
Jesus commanded the disciples to WAIT! Let’s face it. If He commanded His own disciples to wait, we for sure are going to have to do some waiting of our own!
But what did they do in the waiting? They acted!
Acts 1:14 “These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women and Mary, the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers.”
While they waited, they prayed. The assembled together and prayed.
Friends, God did not call us to be still in the waiting.
Waiting on those results, PRAY! Waiting on that phone call, PRAY! Waiting on those children to return to Him, PRAY! And pray some more! Assemble together and have others pray with you and for you!
One more waiting….
When Jesus tells us He is coming back for us, do we stand with our eyes lifted up doing nothing but watching and waiting. NO my friends, we pray for those still lost, we witness to the dying world while there is still time! We work to bring others to Him before that return!
So don’t let Him catch you twiddling your thumbs! 😁😁 God calls us to do our part!
I promise you this….In the waiting, God is working!!! And we should be too.
Until next time….
