One of our favorite TV shows to watch is a competition show where knives, swords, axes or whatever the judges decide on are forged in fire and tested.
The competitor has to take raw steel and put it in the fire so that it can be heated up enough to mold it and make it into what he wants it to be. He has to make it strong enough to be tested without breaking. This means he has to get the fire HOT. He has to get the steel HOT. Without that, the steel won’t mold into what the maker wants it to be.
Sometimes, during the testing, the blade will bend or chip but not break.
Hmmm….I see something here. How about you??
God works on us the same way. We may have to walk through the fire some. Sometimes it may be so hot we don’t think we can take it. But without it, we cannot become strong enough to withstand the testing that may come.
We may bend, we may chip and think we are broken. But we are not. Because God has molded us to make us strong enough to withstand the testing.
If you have ever watched someone forging, they don’t just throw the material in the fire and leave it. They watch it. They have tools that hold on to it so that they always have their hand on it. Friends, God NEVER leaves us. Even in the fire He has His hands on us still.
On the show, sometimes the material is stubborn and refuses to mold into what it is meant to be. So the maker has to put it back in the fire again and work on it some more.
UGH! I think I’ve been that material before!! Surely I’m not alone in this???
In the end, the maker has worked tirelessly, has worked hard, has hammered and grinded and molded and polished until a beautiful work has been completed. It is then they are declared done!
My friend, God will work on us non-stop, hammering and molding and grinding and polishing until His beautiful work has been completed and He calls us Home.
So don’t be afraid to let Him work, to let Him mold and polish you into what you were meant to be.
Until next time…
