I Can Do ALL Things Through Him

Holding Daddy’s Hand…

When my kids were little, we took them to the beach. My son held my husband’s hand as they walked out to play in the water. It wasn’t long before they saw a shark in the water, not very far from where they were. My husband told my son to hop on his shoulders and hold on to him. My son did so without question.

As they made it back to the sand where I was, my son was super excited to tell me about the sharks. No fear whatsoever. He knew he was safe because he was holding on to his father.

This past week, we were watching one of our shows we like to watch. The couple went with a man and his two sons “noodle fishing”. If you don’t know what this is, it’s climbing into catfish “holes” or homes under the water and catching them with your hands or feet.

The man holds on to your hand while you climb backwards, under the water, into the hole. Umm..yea…definitely not on my bucket list.

Anyways! The girl tried it but starting getting scared. She was freaking out a little. Can’t say that I blame her AT ALL!

Her boyfriend was trying to tell her that the man had a hold of her but she didn’t know the man well. So she didn’t trust that he would at first.

So one of the sons, who mind you was just 13, took her place. He grabbed dad’s hand and went completely under with no fear. No hesitation.

The difference? He knew the father. He trusted the father to hold on to him and not let him drown. The same as my son did in the ocean that day.

Friends, it is like that with us. We hold onto to God’s hand to keep us from drowning. We hold onto to Him to keep us safe from the dangers around us.

BUT…we HAVE to KNOW Him in order to TRUST Him. If we don’t, we end up like the young lady who didn’t trust the dad enough to hold on to her.

Pray. Read His Word. You will get to know Him and trust Him more and more.

You will have no problem taking Him by the hand and trusting Him to hold on no matter what.

Until next time…
