When my son was little, he LOVED to follow his dad and grandparents around, doing whatever they were doing. As an adult, he still picks up on a few of those things such as cooking like his dad or golfing like his grandpas.

He imitated them. He acted like them. So much so as to teasing his grandpa with his dad in the grocery store by acting like zombies.

We laugh when we think about things such as that. We smile when they do something we love and they are excited to show us or tell us about it.

It makes our hearts happy.

It’s the same with God.

Paul tells us in Ephesians 5:1 “Therefore be imitators of God as dear children”

We are to love like He does. We are to act like He does. (No this doesn’t include playing The Walking Dead in the grocery store)

The world only sees our Father by our walk, by our talk, by our actions. We are His hands and His feet and His heart to the world around us. We are to imitate Jesus’ actions by loving those around us. We are to be a help to our neighbor in need. We are to comfort those who are hurting. We are to share His Word with those who need to hear.

As children of our earthly parents, we tend to pick up a lot of their habits, mannerisms and ideas. How awesome would the world be if more of us did the same as God’s children!!!

Be His hands. Be His feet. Be the light this world needs.
