I Can Do ALL Things Through Him

Busy, Busy, Busy…

LIFE IS BUSY!

Can I get a witness???

It seems like it’s a never ending cycle of busyness.

Breakfast, work, home, dinner, more work, bed and then start all over again! Whew! I’m just tired typing that!!

Our bodies are not only busy, but our minds are too! Thanks to smart phones, smart TV’s and smart everything else, our minds are always connected to the world. We are always scrolling, searching or watching.

Even when we stop to read our bible or pray, our phones are usually not far away. Our time with God can be so easily interrupted now with a text, a Facebook notification or an email.

It can be that way in our churches too.

What?? No, that’s not true. Or is it?

How many of us have been so busy planning a Christmas play that we forget WHY we have Christmas? How many have been busy planning an Easter service and egg hunt and dinner that we forget to stop and kneel before the cross that our Jesus defeated on that Easter morning?

I am not saying that the planning and the doing and the events are not important. You must have the planning and the doing and the planners and the doers. Without them, things would not happen.

But we shouldn’t be so busy doing these things that we miss HIM.

Jesus gave us the perfect example of this in Luke 10 with Martha and her sister, Mary.

Luke 10: 38 – 42 “Now it happened as they went, that He entered a certain village; and a certain woman named Martha welcomed Him into her home. And she had a sister called Mary, who also sat at Jesus’ feet and heard His Word. But Martha was distracted with much serving, and she approached Him and said, ‘Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Therefore tell her to help me.’ And Jesus answered and said to her, ‘Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken from her.’ “

What Martha was doing was important, but not as important as hearing Jesus’ word while He was there.

My friends, don’t stop serving, planning, doing or helping. But don’t get so busy with these things that we fail to stop and listen to Jesus.

I once heard someone say, “Don’t get so busy making a life that you forget to live.”

So don’t get too busy with the Jesus’ life that you forget Jesus. Stop. Pray. Listen to Him.

There will be time for all the other things…but first…God.

Until next time…
