…and tomorrow may never be mine…
Admit it…you sang that! No? Maybe it’s just me that sings everything. 😂
Seriously, though. Yesterday is gone. Sad to think about sometimes. Especially when yesterday seems better than today.
I spoke with a couple of old friends this week. We reminisced about days past and how we wished we could go back.
However…we know that even if we could go back, it wouldn’t be the same. Things have changed, we have changed.
The only thing we can do is move forward. I am as guilty as anyone of letting yesterday override my thoughts and feelings for today. I sometimes long for the familiar of what was. I long for that time again and wish that the decisions I made could be different.
But then I am reminded that I prayed over these decisions. I prayed hard and to doubt the decisions is to doubt what God has led me to. AND GOD NEVER LEADS US WRONG.
Looking back can be ok, but it can also hurt us if we look back too much.
Genesis 19:26 says “But his wife looked back behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.” God told Lot and his wife not to look back, but she did.
In Luke 9:62 Jesus said “No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.”
Kind of harsh. But if we are constantly looking back, how can we ever look forward at the blessings God has in store for us.
My friends, I know it’s hard sometimes. We long for the time when our loved ones were still with us. We long for a time when we had that perfect job, or so we think now. Because admit it, at the time we complained about that one too. 🤣
Our flesh longs for things past. But God wants us to experience the blessings of today! And how can we ever do that if we are anchored in yesterday.
I. Am. Guilty. So don’t think I’m stepping on your toes too bad because mine are KILLING me right now!
Use the lessons, the memories, the good and bad times of yesterday to better you.
But don’t stay there.
Until next time…
