I Can Do ALL Things Through Him

We All Have Stones…

Yes you read that right. We all got ‘em.

We all carry stones around in our pockets. The question is…

Are they good stones or bad stones?

Now I know I have you confused. It’s a stone. A rock. It can’t be good or bad. It just…exists.

Ah, but you’re wrong. It’s all dependent on the pockets they are in. It’s all dependent on the purpose behind the throw.

Understand yet??

In John chapter 8, a woman was brought before Jesus. She had been caught in the act of adultery. The people wanted to stone her. To kill her. To judge and punish her for her actions. Jesus told them, “He who is without sin among you, let him throw a stone at her first.” (John 8:7)

Guess what?? They didn’t. They walked away.

Those are bad stones.

In 1 Samuel chapter 17, a giant named Goliath threatened the children of Israel. David, a youth at the time, came before Goliath with a slingshot and a stone and slung it at Goliath. He told the giant, “You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.” (1 Samuel 17:45)

Guess what?? He killed him. He brought the giant that threatened them down.

That was a good stone.

My friends, in our pockets we carry stones. All of us. And we have the power to make them good ones or bad ones.

If you read earlier in John chapter 8, you will see those wanting to stone the woman were the church of that day. Just because we are part of a church doesn’t make us immune to the bad stones.

The same goes in 1 Samuel 17. David was just a teenage shepherd. Nothing special. A “nobody” if you will. Yet he used his stones for good. He used His faith in our God to bring that giant down. Just because you’re not a preacher or a deacon or choir leader, doesn’t mean God won’t use you to throw those good stones!

So as you begin your day today, as you go through your weekend and start your next week, remember those stones in your pockets and think twice, three times or four before you sling them.

Until next time…
