Fear is a hard thing to overcome sometimes.

It can grab at our chest, make us nauseous, make us irritable and having us running for cover.

In 1 Samuel, Israel felt this way. They had a giant threatening them and no one had the courage to knock him down.

1 Samuel 17: 4-7 tells us about this giant. He was huge! He had a bronze helmet and heavy armor over his whole body and carried several weapons. Talk about scary!

But why was someone who was so threatening need all that for the fearful Israelites??

Because he may have been tough, but their God was tougher!!

In 1 Samuel 17: 45, David tells the giant, “You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.”

The devil does that to us too!

He comes to us all suited up with armor and weapons to scare us into submission and to get us to follow him. But our God is tougher than him!!

We may be small but we are mighty in Him!!!

So my friends, whatever giant you may be facing, whether it’s a sickness or a job or financial problems, whatever it is, grab those stones and hurl them at it in the name of the God of Israel!

And don’t be scared!
