Words are a very powerful tool. At home, at work, wherever you are.

Words can tear someone down or they can lift someone up.

Recently, in a class at work, we discussed the power of words. I already had this week’s blog in mind and as the guest spoke, the meaning tumbled around in my head over and over again.

Looking from the outside in, she spoke of how our words can affect our coworkers, our spouses, our children. We could all be in agreement with that.

But what about in our spiritual lives?

I get up and the first thing I do is complain about how tired I am. I eat and complain how the food made my stomach hurt. I complain that I have to wash dishes or sweep the floors or wash the clothes. Ok, so I (we, cause I KNOW I’m not alone) complain alot.

But have you ever thought how God is listening. Instead of speaking negativity, speak life. Wake up and THANK GOD He gave you another day. Wash clothes and THANK GOD He gave you clothes to wear. Sweep your floors and THANK GOD He gave you a place to live.

You get my drift!

You know, we joke about NEVER saying it’s “calm” at work because you have just unleashed the storm. All because you said that one word.

Is that a proven fact? No. But does it change the fact that it seems to happen every time. Also, no.

The point I am trying to make, is that our words have impact in every aspect of our lives.

You may not think they do but just try it for a few days and see.
