Do you ever have those days where you just aren’t feeling it? You just can’t seem to yourself going. You drag yourself to the coffee pot and try your best to wake up. You brush your teeth and wish you could go back to bed. I know we have ALL had those days before!
So what do we do? We call in, close the blinds and crawl back into bed, right? Not exactly. Even though we don’t feel like it, we get moving and get to work. We do this because we know the end result. PAYDAY!
Worship can be a lot like that. We wake up in a bad mood for whatever reason or we have a bad day at work. Or maybe you just plain don’t feel like being “all spiritual and stuff”. You ever felt that way? I know I have!
But that was before I understood what true worship is.
Worship has nothing to do with me, or how I feel, and EVERYTHING to do with HIM! Psalms 22:3 says that God inhabits the praises of Israel. He inhabits the praises of His people!
Inhabit means to live in or occupy, dwell. When we worship God, when we praise Him, He DWELLS within us.
So you see, worship isn’t a feeling. It is communication with our God. It’s praising the only one who is worthy of our praise. There are times we don’t worship because we feel like it, we worship because we know the end result. The presence of God dwelling in us!
Now don’t misunderstand me. When you worship, the feeling is definitely incredible, breathtaking and beyond words at times. So…
When you are sad, worship Him. When you are fearful, worship Him. When you are worried, worship Him. When you are happy, worship Him.
Worship doesn’t have to happen in a pew with a praise team singing. Worship can happen on your way to work when things aren’t going the way you want but you know God has got this. It can happen when you’re crying in the shower because life seems overwhelming and you’re not sure about your future. Cry out to Him and worship Him. I promise, HE WILL BE THERE!
Remember…
Worship takes us OUT of our problems, our worries, our uncertainties and takes us INTO His presence.
Psalms 34:1 “I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.”
