I Can Do ALL Things Through Him

Misplaced Commas & All

Most of you who know me well, know that my baby sister is an English Teacher. So you can imagine the stress of, when presenting my first blog to her, making sure all my sentences were grammatically correct and all my punctuations were in the right spots! I even still double space after the period just as I was taught in typing class oh so many years ago.

With that being said, she read it and never once tried to correct anything. She loved it. She commented on how much she loved reading it. I breathed a sigh of relief! LOL

But you know, that is how God is with us. We bow our heads. We try to come up with fancy words and make it perfect. We try to impress God. You know what, though? It doesn’t impress Him. Just like my sister didn’t care if I misplaced a comma, God doesn’t care about “grammatically correct” prayers. It’s what’s coming from the heart that counts.

In Matthew 6:7, Jesus tells us “And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do. For they think that they will be heard for their many words.”

I don’t want to think I will be heard for my many words, I want to know that I am heard because of my heart.

God doesn’t want us to impress Him. God doesn’t need for us to impress Him. He already knows what we have need of, He just wants us to openly and honestly pour out our hearts to Him.

There are times when I just sit here in my quiet place and can’t seem to form a coherent thought. I can’t seem to put together a sentence that would express my need to God. But I know that He hears me anyways. I know that He hears my heart. And that is all that matters.

Psalms 62:8 “Trust in Him at all times, you people; Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us.”

Man! I love that verse! Pour out your heart to Him. He is our refuge. He will hear you, misplaced commas and all.
