Now before you go getting all mad that I’ve called you all bad, just remember I said “we”…so myself included.
You may be thinking, “I’m not bad. I go to church, I don’t drink, I don’t cuss, I’ve never stolen and I help people whenever I can.” So yeah, you are a decent person.
But have you ever gossiped or “shared” about someone to someone else? Have you ever “borrowed” a stamp at work without asking? Have you ever “fibbed” about what you’re doing to avoid going and doing something else?
Then guess what? You’ve lied, spread gossip and stolen.
Ouch!! That hurts! Don’t worry, with the one finger pointed out I’ve got three pointed back at myself!
My friends, I’m not telling you this to make you feel bad. I’m telling you this to remind you that we ALL have sinned. I’m telling you this to remind you that we ALL fall short of God’s glory and need His saving grace.
Romans 12:3 says “For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith.”
We have all been bad at one time or another in our lives. Not to say we’ve been “going to jail” bad, but we were ALL once “going to hell” bad. In fact, we still are. ONLY by His grace and His mercy, have we been saved.
So the next time we (and yes I say “we”, because I’m just as guilty) start to think more highly of ourselves than we should, remember that we are ALL sinners saved by grace.
Until next time…
