It was absolutely beautiful. It was breathtaking. It was 7 inches of snow in a town that rarely sees snow at all..let alone 7 inches!!
It was a winter wonderland to most of us. A beautiful blanket of white that sparkled and shimmered in the sunlight.
I was in awe. I was mesmerized by the beautiful scenery God allowed us to experience for just a little bit.
Now you may be thinking, “It’s just snow.”
But in south Georgia, it’s a rare event for us.
I kept stepping outside my door just to look, to pick up a handful and laugh like a little kid. I was unable to hide my smile, my excitement.
Now, just a few days later, it’s gone. Barely a remnant here or there in the shaded spots. But the yard is now mud and grass again. The driveway is now just gravel again and I as I look at it, I think that it seems kind of dreamlike now.
That quick, it was gone. The magical moment has melted away.
But the memories made will last the rest of my life.
We took a moment to stop and enjoy the beautiful work of God. We played like kids again. We sat at the windows in awe and wonder.
While the snowfall was rare, the beautiful moments God gives us are not.
It’s all around us. The laugh of our children or grandchildren. The smile of the elderly as you take the time to hug them or be there for them. The sunrise on the way to work or the sunset on the lake as you’re fishing.
Each and every moment that God gives us to live is a beautiful, magical moment that we should never take for granted. I promise, one day, as you look back, all the moments will have melted away like the snow.
So while the snow caused us all down here in the south to pause for a moment, don’t forget to pause for the random beautiful moments that God gives us each day.
Take joy in the little things He gives us each and every day.
Until next time…
